A Sense Of Adventure And Why It Is So Important To Us?
Before I talk about why adventure is important to us as a family I want you to think of an answer to this question….
What does adventure mean to you?
Everyone has their own definition of what makes for an adventure.
Is it hiking up a mountain, is it going camping, is it going on a shopping trip, is it all of those, none of those?
So here’s what we think adventure is…
An adventure can be anything!!
Think of the saying, having a sense of adventure.
What does that mean?
Adventure to us is just a state of mind we approach things with.
It’s about sensing the adventure in everything.
Sometimes we think that an adventure has to be a big event, but if you go into anything with the right mindset then anything has the potential to be your biggest adventure.
Think back to when you were a child.
What seemed adventurous to you.
Sometimes it was the most simple of things that got us excited because we had a sense of adventure.
The importance of this is, that we can forget about the idea that adventure only has to be for others, or for a certain type of person who fits the adventurer criteria in our heads.
It can be for everyone, young, old, male-female, strong, not so strong.
If you can go into anything with an open curious mind then every day can be an adventure.
So it’s not the size of adventure that is important to us but creating a sense of curiosity and wonder about the world around us and what we do in it.
We think in this way we will cultivate a sense of adventure in our daughter Annabel’s life that she can take forward into any aspect of her future.
Imagine a world full of curious, adventurous people that don’t just take hearsay as fact, that want to go and find out for themselves.
A world where people want to explore what’s possible.
People who want to change the world for the better and can help make that happen through their new ideas created from a sense of adventure.
Wouldn’t that be the coolest thing ever?
Instilling in the next generation the idea that they can make a difference in the world by the way they approach life.
Remember Russell from Disney’s Pixar movie UP and his wide-eyed view of everything and his go get em adventurous attitude!!
Perhaps we could all be a bit more Russell in our approach to life.
Happy adventures…
